This very attractive painting is oil on board, and has a beautiful frame. Circa 1850
The house is distinctive with its horizontal divisions across the main front, and the bowed side projection. It also is unusual in the disposition of the chimney stacks and would suggest it evolved in different stages over time.
We have have not been able to decipher exactly where or what this house is - all we know for sure is that the inscription says 'Co. Meath'. There is also the word 'Cloncurry' or possibly 'Clonakilty' - both of which are not in Co. Meath - confusing matters! The name 'Conor-O'Brien' inscribed should provide a further clue, but we cannot make any connections with this name and houses in Co. Meath.
Any information would be warmly welcomed!
