Kitty Mac Bride was a very well known amateur sculptress in the mid 20th century. Her father was a doctor, and they lived in Berkeley Square (where the Nightingale sings) in Central London. As a teenager she kept mice, and apparently having time on her hands, she took up making these little sculptures, which all have whimsical titles.
She was married with two children, Angela and Hugh, and her husband was in the British diplomatic service, and they travelled a lot. She still continued making her little mice up until the end of her life.
She was born in 1904 and died in 1983. We estimate these mice to have been made circa 1960.
