A unique, wooden, hand held 3D viewer called 'The
Perfecscope'. Made by Underwood and Underwood of
New York and patented in 1895.
These fascinating perfecsopes were made around 1885 onward to demonstrate one of the ways in which the newly discovered photographs could be used. 2 photographs were taken with the subjects a few inches apart and when viewed with this apparatus it
became a 3 dimensional picture. This was the beginning of the 3D films that we have today.
