These special blue Spits were used for reconnaissance over Europe taking valuable photographs to assist in planning future raids on strategic targets, they flew highly dangerous missions during daylight hours using their speed and manoeuvrability to outsmart enemy action. Painted blue they blended in with the sky and clouds.
